Transcription and conventions used
The transcription consists of 2,898 entries from 35 parishes mainly covering the period from the start of the registers to 1901. The entries are from the Church of England parish registers. All data has been checked and appears in publications that may be purchased from the Buckinghamshire Family History Society
Important Note: Banns are only recorded where the marriage is not recorded in the parish where the Banns are called.
Each record consists of:
- Date - day, month and year of the last calling of the Banns
- Transcription of entry
- Parish
- Church
- County code
An expanded version of the entry with separate columns for each name will appear in table view.
- Groom's forename and surname
- Bride's forename and surname
Only the first forename of each person has been made available for searching.
Banns are normally read out in the parishes of bride and groom in the three weeks before their marriage. In some cases, the marriage ceremony will not have been completed. Marriages may also take place following the granting of a licence.
